Elevate your Project with Architectural Lighting Design

There is no other element of interior design more important than lighting. When applied correctly, lighting enhances every space for the purposes of function and aesthetics. The elements that come together through carefully planned lighting design transforms a space into a seamless combination of functionality and style. Architectural Lighting Design should be a key component to any design/build project.

The best time to start thinking about lighting for your project is in the early planning stages. Schedule a consultation with our Design Team in Orange or Costa Mesa to discuss your project and discover the benefits of working with a Professional Lighting Designer at Lightstyles.

Our Process

Review and Analysis of Plans

To start, we review architectural plans identifying areas that could benefit from specialty lighting. We map functional, accent, and decorative lighting layers by analyzing the plan. We hold meetings with the client to gain insight into preferences, visual concerns, lighting goals, and relevant details like colors, finishes, and furniture plans. Reviewing such details helps with fixture placement and appropriate light levels in key areas.

A LIGHTING PLAN IS CREATED

Detailed drawings of the lighting plan are provided, which include a symbols legend, switch leg and dimmer indications, construction notes and other details specific to the project. In addition, a compilation of the architectural lighting specification cut sheets is part of the submittal package.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LIGHTING DESIGN

During construction of your project, site visits and periodic consultations are required for us in order to be current on existing structural details. This also gives us the opportunity to address any framing or other issues that may impact the lighting design.

FROM Concept to Completion

Our lighting design projects are implemented in phases, but that doesn't mean we're not with you every step of the way. Every phase is carefully executed to achieve the best-in-class results you deserve.

Phase 1: We draft a comprehensive lighting plan, purchase rough-in lighting, and conduct an initial walk-through to ensure you're happy with our vision.

Phase 2: Our expert team performs a thorough field measure for architectural linear fixtures. We analyze cabinetry shop drawings, cabinet lighting specs, and light color to ensure everything matches. We even consult with your A/V home control system installer. With the Phase 2 order, we provide remote drivers/transformers for low voltage lighting.

Phase 3: In the final phase, we supply finish trims for recessed lights, cabinetry lighting, and consult with your interior designer on decorative lighting. These finishing touches truly make all the difference.

THE GRAND FINALE

At this stage of your project we review all details that may need light source or lens modifications, aiming or other adjustments, after the interior furnishings and art are in place. These adjustments are thought of as “tweaking” to make sure that all of the lighting is doing its job correctly and the design intent is achieved.
